I want to take you today into a theme that feels foundational to me — something we need to set in place in order to keep evolving and growing into this field, into these kinds of conversations. The theme is: the body is a resonance chamber.
Some years ago, I created a whole masterclass on this. I'm reminded of it now, because I want to ground you before I dive in: when I speak about this concept, it's not philosophical. It's actually a concept supported — originating — in our physiology, in how our body is structured, in what it was meant to be, before we grew so far away and disconnected from its signals.
The way the body is built, the number of nerve endings and how they're spread, how they interact with the cells, with the skin, with the organs — all of it creates this. Things ripple through our system. Things move through our system. And our system is not an isolated island. It lives in an environment, it grows in an environment.
I want you to think about yourself in different environments — different weather, different people, different contexts — and how you felt. Some environments have the potential to make us tired. Some have the potential to energise us. These are real things. And our system fluctuates across different days, different times.
This resonance quality has been in our system since we were forming in our mother's womb. It was the first internal architecture, the first foundation. Before a baby is even a baby, growing in its mother's womb, there is no filter between in and out. There is only resonance. Only this ripple effect of sensing, of feeling, of responsiveness, of response. There are no barriers yet between what is outside and what I perceive, and what I possibly take in. It has this quality — like a unified field.
Then we slowly form a body, form muscles, form the ego structure we need for this world, and we grow a perception of separation. We feel — and okay, we are individuals too — but we forget that we're part of a larger ecosystem, that we're connected, that we're in resonance and in response. We forget to trust, and to allow this resonance to lead us.
Let me go a little deeper into how it looks as we form in our mother's womb. Before it's resonance, there's a movement of expansion and return. Every cell that multiplies into more cells performs this movement, and this movement is like an original pattern that grows as the system grows, as it develops, as more function comes into play, as more nuance comes into play. It grows with it — I move toward something, or I withdraw. It becomes a yes or a no. I take it in, or I throw it out. I reach out, or I pull back. As we develop motorically, as we gain more muscles to do more things, this movement expands into more functions — but it continues to be there. Our system continues to live in this resonance, in this response. And it's also the space where our system, our body, knows how to self-regulate — knows what it needs to do, for example, after a traumatic event.
Again, we've grown so far out of it, so disconnected from it. I hear so many people say to me, "I don't know how to trust my body. I don't even know this is possible." This is a very real conversation. We don't know, because we've grown so far from it, and we were never taught — we are already many generations who were never taught. It's like a forgotten lineage. A forgotten wisdom we need to come back to.
I want you, as you sit and listen, to find your sitting bones — to anchor yourself in the places where you feel supported. If you're walking, it's your feet. If you're sitting, it's your sitting bones. Maybe you also have some support at your back. As you do that, almost in parallel, in resonance with it, I want you to simply notice, without changing anything, what's happening with your breath — how it moves, where it doesn't move. And then, as a second thing to notice — see if you can sense, feel, or hear your heart. It does the same movement. This movement continues, across multiple systems, throughout our bodies.
Some time ago, I heard a conversation with a scientist and doctor, Teresa Bullard. She's a physician, if I remember correctly, and a researcher, and she was talking about how DNA literally organises information from the quantum field. She described the DNA as a chamber, and how it interacts with the quantum field — which I find mind-blowing. I share it here because it speaks to the same movement and mechanism I'm describing across the whole body. Our whole body constantly interacts with, and organises, information — from within our system, and from the environment we're in. And the architecture of it — like different kinds of lenses — shapes what we perceive, what we translate this information into, what meaning we give it, how we carry it into our higher brain and into our life.
So I want to leave you today with this awareness of resonance. Start to be curious about how a yes feels in your body, and how a no feels. So simple — but sometimes we've drifted so far that we truly don't know, because we give so much weight to the chatter of our mind. Start by anchoring your awareness there, by inviting this awareness in. And it's okay if, at first, it doesn't settle into knowing — if it sits instead in a field of open question, of exploration, of curiosity, of seeking to reconnect. This is the door. The portal, for so many things.
If you've heard me before, you've heard me say how our body is a bridge — between physiology and meaning, between sensing and consciousness. So this space is really a portal, a door into more connection, more authenticity, more direct relating with the depth of ourselves — and bringing that into the world too. Being more authentically ourselves in our connections, in our environments. Being in current states, rather than pushing ourselves into the stressors so many of us live under because we're so out of tune with our bodies.
Then there's another part to this, for people who feel the pull toward spirituality, toward higher states of consciousness, toward quantum fields — many times, unconsciously, when we reach for these states, when we look for them, we move out of our body to find them. But the body, as I said, is the instrument. It's my sensing capacity, my ability. Lisbeth Marcher, the founder of the Bodynamic system, says it took her many years to fully grasp — and I've always echoed this, because it took me many years too — that real spirituality can only happen in a body.
So the body is really this chamber of resonance. If I want to grasp, to connect, to reach higher dimensions — spiritual dimensions, God, energy, whatever you want to call it — the greatest portal, the greatest capacity, comes from within the body.
This is my invitation for today. If you want to dive further into the physiology of it, look for the masterclass on the website.
